The Allen James Mission

 Positive Living

Positive living. Just what does living a positive life mean?  According to Holland Career Inventory results (2012) success is defined by the majority of people on planet Earth as happiness.  When individuals are happy they feel successful.  Certainly happiness comes in a variety of forms and attained through a even larger variety of avenues.  Attitude is defined as the mental position that represents an individual's degree of like or dislike for an item – a generally positive or negative view of a person, place, thing, or event. A positive attitude consists of "the inclination to generally be in an optimistic, hopeful state of mind" (hopesprings.com).  Attitudes certainly change as a result of life experience and the life components we add or take away from life, thus an individual who lacks a positive attitude can change!

People with positive attitudes are optimists. They perceive they are accountable for the positive events in their lives; accepting responsibility for this positivity will result in additional positivity in the future. However, if negativity influxes in their lives, optimists tend to dispel it as an one time incident, something they had no control over. Optimists continually believe things will be get better. Pessimists on the other hand are those foster an ongoing negative attitude, seeing the worst in all around them. This view on life persists despite events in their lives which may point to a total opposite reality.   Allen James' Guide to Success series exemplifies a restoration of an optimistic concept.  Certainly a mission worth chasing.

 Success

M ost of us have been striving to achieve success as long as we can remember. A few achieve the success they desire but many are not as fortunate. Success always seems just out of reach, allusive like a bright shiny apple dangling off an especially high branch of an apple tree.  Many of us have been pursuing success for many years without attaining it. Yet others who have just started out find it almost immediately. Success is a notion that terrible wars have been fought over. Success to some throughout history was to capture and enslave many others. This brutish notion of success has been with us since the origins of the human species.  The meaning of true success is different to each of us thus has many definitions.

O ne's concept of true success depends upon the goals and objectives of the life we lead. A business man sees success in terms of increased profits and expanding market shares. An athlete measures true success as how many points made or crossing the finish line first.  So an athlete may have one definition of success and a stay at home mom may have another. A musician may define true success as putting a number one hit on the charts while a doctor sees success as procuring life following what was diagnosed as a terminal illness. The true meaning of success hinges on an individual's  unique values and perspectives on life. The number of different meanings for true success are as myriad as the number of stars in sky; but each must figure out exactly what success means before it can be achieved.
